hi! i’m blare coughlin (all lower case, please) and i make art. this is my lovely website where you can find the art. i make a lot of stuff and i am making the a lot of stuff all the time. why is this? if i knew i’d tell you. updates are sporadic and irregular.
i have a BA (linguistics and women’s studies, double major) from mcgill university and am currently doing a BFA in studio arts at concordia. i table at expozine pretty much every year i can; i’ve done it since 2019, pandemic permitting. i’m new to the formal art world and am very much more at home in DIY spaces, so if you’re from the formal art world and crinkling your nose at how grody my artist statement/portfolio is, sorry. if you’d like to see what formal art world stuff i’ve been up to, my CV is here.
you can print out any of my zines and assemble them free of charge if you so desire. i sell them already printed occasionally, but don’t let that scare you out of making your own copies if you want.
in terms of influences i take inspiration from Dennis Cooper, Jim Woodring, Chris Maggio, Amberra Wellmann, Shari Boyle, the band Xiu Xiu, Henry Darger, and, um, i need to do more research.
ok that’s it.
show’s over; go home
thank you to will sinclair for this nice photo of me. i have shorter hair now but everything else is the same.
But Wait I’m Doing Press or Something And Need An Official Bio For You
